Summary of events in September 4th session:
Day 25:
After finding the smithy cube in the Greave & Gauche, the party decides to hole up and recover some power. They go back to the temple. The night passes without event.
Day 26:
Strigil opens the door planning to go bathe, but discovers three bantocks standing outside. The monsters attack, but the band kills them without difficulty. Nequam sneaks out and finds about fifteen more standing around the town. Mirth raises them and puts them under her command. Mirth detemines that the bantocks are undead, so she makes the party invisible to undead. They spend the next hour searching the remaining buildings: an herbalist shop, Eidan's house, an inn, a provision shop, the Prancing Peacock public house, a jail, and an arena. Documents in Eidan's house and a secret room below the pub provide more information about the statue and its teleporting abilities. They also find some equipment, a few potions, a magical axe, a mystical staff, and an interesting ring. Just before the invisibility wears off they kill the other bantocks standing on the north side of the river.
Strigil spends a long time jury-rigging a chemistry set, and determines what most of the potions do. One of them is a deafness cure, which they give to the recently deafened Brandobric. He is grateful. Mirth speaks to the deceased Eidan and discovers how to use the song and staff to activate the teleporting power of the statue. It can apparently take people to Bostic's manor in Kell's Dock, or to his tomb near Port Arkos.
Mirth also speaks with her deity and learns that the bantocks are coming from somewhere under the river.
Strigil attempts to send a message to his long-lost mentor Asphalates. He learns to his dismay that Asphalates and the wizardly Society of the Meandering and Oft-Intersecting Lines (SMOIL) at one time attempted to undo the cataclysm but failed. Asphalates is now being tortured by demons in Hell.
