All things come from Valel. She is our earth. Her name means "Living Stone" in the First Tongue. For her there was no time, so she created it. When Time began she realized she was alone. This made her weep. Her tears flew outward into the Blackness and became the stars. Each star contained some of her essence; some were filled with hate and others love, but all had life within them. When the stars came to rest they sought each other out and formed the constellations. Valel’s essence in the stars gave the constellations life, and the Gods were born. Each God was made up of different parts of Valel’s essence, so they were very different from each other. Valel looked upon her children and was no longer alone. To see them all she rotated the blackness around her, and she created the Sphere of the Heavens around the blackness to contain the Gods. She loved them so much that she gave them her body, the earth, to rule. There were many Gods and each one wanted to see the earth molded to reflect the parts of Valel which were inside of him. They argued long but could not agree on what to do with their mother’s gift. Finally, the God Bekeel attacked another God, Os, and killed him. The gods stared at the body of their brother, unsure what to do, until they heard the screams of agony from Valel. She shook and shuddered in her sorrow and great faults and cracks formed beneath her surface; thus was the Under-Earth created. She created a God named Helekul, a great ball of fire, and hurled him into the Heavens to watch over the Gods. Thus was the Sun born. Helekul decreed that Os’s blood was poured onto the earth to become the ocean. Os’s lost constellation left a great black void in the sky; there Helekul put Bekeel’s Dark, a prison where disgraced Gods such as Bekeel were to be banished. Helekul also ruled that each God would hold sway over one part of the earth, and assigned a domain for each based on what was within each one. Guided by Helekul the Gods brought land up from Os’s blood. They coated the world in soil and sand, created swamp and desert, mountain and lowland, forest and plain, grassland and tundra. To survey the Gods’ work he circled the earth; thus were Day and Night born. With that work done they created Beasts to walk the earth and entertain them. The Gods wanted to created beings to worship them; Helekul gave the task to Kelvald, whose powers of creation were the greatest among the Gods. He made the Dwarves, and they sought out the fissures and caverns of the Under-Earth. The dwarves were made to care for the mother of the gods and ensure that she was kept in good health, so they lived beneath the surface in the Under-Earth. Valel was pleased at Helekul’s supervision and bore for him a wife, Alian, who rode through the skies with him. Alian commanded much of Helekul’s attention and he began to pay less attention to the Gods’ work. With Helekul’s eye turned away from them, many of the Gods urged Kelvald to make races in their images. His vanity compelled him to do so, and soon Valel found hundreds of intelligent races scurrying about on her surface. Most of them were not born with the reverence of the Dwarves and they brought harm to Valel. This made her angry, but not at the Gods, whom she already knew to be irresponsible, but their overseer, Helekul. She took Alian away from him and forced her to stay always behind her from Helekul’s perspective. Thus was the Moon born. The new races continued to bring Valel great pain, but she let them live to remind her children, and Helekul, of their folly. Most of these races continued to bring great harm to the earth, but some came to learn to respect her. The Gods who urged their creation were raising their worshipers to know what they were not born with. These races – Human, Woodalf, Cyclops, Phremit, Dervish, and Gnome – came to be known as the Races of Man. |

Kelvald
Kelvald is the Creator of the races of men, and dwarves were created in his image. He has gray skin and a long, bushy greyish-white beard. He wears a blacksmith's apron over a shirt made of Valenite, and is often depicted at a forge.
When he created the races, he used his own tears to give them life, just as Valel used her tears to create the gods. To a priest of Kelvald, tears are to be spent only on great joy or great tragedy, for they are filled with life. His priests (mostly dwarves, although a few of the other races have had priests of Kelvald) have devoted themselves to guardianship of the earth. This task involves constant travel, educating those the priest comes across on how to treat the earth with respect, and even executing individuals who refuse to take those lessons to heart. A priest of Kelvald is required to use the hammer as a primary weapon, as Kelvald does. They are also required to tithe 10 % of their adventuring income monthly.
His domains are earth, good, and protection.
