Eventually we settled on a place that was a coffee shop twice before (bad omen I know), but we figured it would save us thousands of dollars on build out. Plus all the equipment was in the space and included in our lease, reducing our up front costs. Seems like at this point there is no way we can not make this work.
But my business partner and I got it in our heads that we needed to make the space our own, separate ourselves from the previous shops at that location. So we set out to spend half of the funds we acquired to complete the build out or $25,000. The vision was to transform the shop from Starbucks Chain, to industrial hipster.
